Each bassoon reed you order from Rivera Reeds is made by hand, beginning with gouged, shaped and profiled cane. I put the finishing touches on each reed and play every tip profiled reed myself before I send it to you.

Reeds

Rivera Reeds offers reed blanks and tip profiled reeds:

1. The reed blank is for experienced reed makers that prefer to hand finish and adjust a reed.
2. The tip profiled reed is a blank that has had the tip cut and has gone through a tip profiler. The tip profiler removes cane off of the reed allowing it vibrate more easily. This reed will still need some finishing depending on your personal preference.
